Dark Chocolate Brownie Cake

Perfect homemade brownie cake, super moist, easy to make at home. Ideal celebration cake for Brownie lovers and taste even better than bakery's cake.

I love baking birthday cakes, brownies, bars, blondies.. but Brownies are so tempting with dark chocolate delight, at least for me or for chocolate lovers out there. In past I already shared two brownies recipes, Tempted brownies sandwiches & Chocolate Bites. As bars and squares are too popular among brownies in serving dessert with ice-creams or syrups, but today I'm sharing whole Brownie Cake recipe. Best for celebration or parties. Bake them for those who love Chocolates and Brownies. It's super easy and super chocolatey cake you'd ever had. Before I start the recipe, I should tell you to check my basic Cake baking tips. They're only four to five, but are essential elements for making cake at home. These are what I learn from experience in baking bunch of cakes for family's events.


Now you're ready for doing great work in the kitchen and baking this chocolatey Brownie cake.

A little about this cake; it is a two layers Brownie Cake, frosted with homemade vanilla whipped cream. Decorated with melted chocolate and rainbow sprinkles. Need whole recipe? Process on...

Things you'll need:
For Cake: (make 1 medium-slim layer of 10")
  • 2 eggs (room temp.)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 3 tbsp special Dark cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla (optional)
  • 1-1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
For Frosting: (make approx 2-1/2 cup)
  • 250ml fresh cream (chilled)
  • 1/4 cup powder sugar
  • 50gr melted butter (unsalted)
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
What you have to do:
First prepare your cake;
  1. In a mixing bowl beat eggs on medium speed until creamy, 1-2 mins.
  2. Add sugar, beat well.
  3. Add in melted butter, cocoa, milk and vanilla, beat them all together until incorporate.
  4. Using sifter add flour and baking powder, beat to just combine (not over-mix it)
  5. Pour this creamy chocolatey batter into round 10" cake pan.
  6. Bake for 30 min or until done.
Note: you have to repeat this process to make another layer or just double the amount of ingredients and bake at once, then cut into two layers (choice is yours)

Now its time to make frosting;
  1. In a clean mixing bowl, beat cream until it double in quantity.
  2. Add sugar and beat in to soft peak.
  3. Add melted butter, while mixer running on medium-low speed and beat for 20 secs.
  4. Now add salt and vanilla and beat to completely combined and become like creamy frosting, 30 secs.
Final preparation;
  • Take one cool layer of brownie, spread 1 cup of frosting over it.
  • Cover it with another brownie layer.
  • Use remaining frosting to cover the whole cake and place it in the fridge for 30 mins to set.
  • In that time, melt the chocolate, pour it in piping bag with 'nozzle two' pin. Decorate the cake with melted chocolate. You can write, draw or whatever you like, but be clean & artistic.
  • Sprinkle rainbow sugar sprinkle on the sides. (or wherever you like)
  • Let it chill for 30 mins.
  • Done! Ready to serve!
